In 2011, France pledged an additional EUR100 million, to be spent over four years, for family planning in nine countries in Francophone Africa.

The French government has since improved normative frameworks through global advocacy, increased access to modern methods of contraception, and increased young people's access to SRH services

In 2017, France committed an additional EUR23 million to strengthen existing partnerships and funding commitments that aim to support the Family Planning 2020 goal. These include the Ouagadougou Partnership, the French Muskoka Fund, and C’est la Vie.

France Commitment Objectives

  1. Increase access to family planning services in francophone Africa.
  2. Allocate an additional €100 million for family planning within the context of reproductive health.
  3. Improve normative frameworks through global advocacy.
  4. Enhance access to modern methods of contraception.
  5. Increase young people’s access to sexual and reproductive health services.
  6. Strengthen existing partnerships and funding commitments.
  7. Support the goals of the Family Planning 2020 initiative.
  8. Collaborate with the Ouagadougou Partnership, the French Muskoka Fund, and C’est la Vie to achieve the commitment.
