Working towards global reproductive freedom, healthcare access, and education.
Every woman and girl has the right to high-quality, voluntary, family planning, regardless of her HIV status.
Linking family planning and HIV services is crucial for achieving FP2020 and Sustainable Development Goals and for realizing the global dream of an AIDS-free generation.
How FP2030 Supports
Integrating FP & HIV Services
1
Ensuring Universal Access
FP2030 believes that every woman and girl, regardless of their HIV status, should have access to high-quality, voluntary family planning. By combining family planning and HIV services, we ensure that these services are readily available to everyone.
2
Achieving Global Goals
Integrating family planning and HIV services is aligned with the objectives of FP2020 and the Sustainable Development Goals. This integration helps FP2030 to reduce maternal and child mortality, promote gender equality, and improve overall health and well-being.
3
COVID-19 Response
FP2030 recognizes the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on sexual and reproductive health services, including family planning and HIV services. By integrating these services, FP2030 aims to overcome challenges such as supply disruptions, fragmented care, and restricted access caused by clinic closures and travel restrictions.
4
Evidence-based Approach
FP2030 adopts an evidence-based approach considering research findings from the Evidence for Contraceptive Options and HIV Outcomes (ECHO) clinical trial. The trial conclusively showed that various contraceptive methods, such as injectables, implants, and intrauterine devices, did not significantly increase the risk of contracting HIV. This evidence is used to ensure the provision of safe and effective contraceptive methods through integrated services.
5
Empowering Informed Decision
FP2030 understands the significance of providing various contraceptive options to enable women and young girls to make informed decisions regarding their reproductive health. By presenting choices and removing obstacles to access, such as stigma, strict laws, and lack of knowledge, FP2030 strives to assist individuals in avoiding unintended pregnancies and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
We’re dedicated to advancing the rights of people everywhere to access reproductive health services safely & on their own terms.
